A Better Plan
“Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago.” (Isaiah 25:1, New International Version – UK)
Babe number three was expected almost any day. If she would just cooperate and arrive a few days early, like her siblings, the timing would be perfect. A few days early would be a holiday; Dad (a teacher) could be home with the family ten straight days (counting weekends) instead of (possibly) only seven.
But babe number three didn’t show up early. In fact, babe number three was late.
Because You had a better plan.
Babe number three made her entrance (after several promising fits and starts) five days after her due date. Her timing – Your timing – was better. Arriving the Monday evening before the week of Spring break meant Dad had thirteen uninterrupted days at home instead of only ten.
A better plan.
Father, help us remember that when our fondest hopes are not realized it’s always because You have a better plan, a greater blessing than we imagine. Help us choose to trust You especially when we cannot discern Your better plan.
