Drifting

“A man plans his way [as he journeys through life], But the Lord directs his steps and establishes them.” (Proverbs 16:9, Amplified Bible)

A change of seasons. Sometimes I’m tempted to feel I “missed” my life, dreams unrealized. Yet, looking back, I know I spent my days doing “what [was] right in front of me.” Not always what I wanted to do, but what You showed me needed doing. There were unfulfilled hopes; yet, I rest content believing that, for the most part, I have been faithful, obedient.

I read Your word and am reminded of Your promise of a long and fruitful life for those who know Your name, who trust You.* I’m choosing to trust in You. It isn’t over yet; in fact, I not sure which inning I’m in.

And I realize what feels like drifting isn’t. Rather, I am caught in the gentle current of Your grace.
